Podia makes their pricing and plan options super simple for their online course customers. Knowing what comes with both is important to understand before you jump into either their mover or shaker plans.
So what do Podia’s 3 pricing plans include?
Podia Pricing Overview
Podia offers 3 pricing options – a “Mover plan” for $39 per month, a “Shaker plan” for $79 per month, and their new “Earthquaker plan” for $179 per month.
The Mover plan is the cheaper option and includes support for online courses, digital downloads, webinars, email marketing and more. The more expensive Shaker plan adds memberships, affiliate marketing, and other features as well. The largest tier, the Earthquaker, is for those who need to add teammates and need more assistance than the general customer service features available on the other plans.
Podia does offer a 14-day free trial as well, so you can get started and see what the interface is like before paying them a dime. But, I have a feeling you’re going to enjoy this platform as much as I do.
$39 per month and includes:
- Your own website
- Online courses
- Digital downloads
- Webinars
- Email marketing
- Messaging
- Additional teammates ($20/mo each)
- Zero transaction fees
- Unlimited everything
- 7-days-a-week support
- Daily live Q&A sessions
- Free migrations
$79/mo and includes everything in the Mover Plan AND:
- Memberships
- Zoom integration
- Hosting for a Blog
- Offsite Buy Buttons
- Affiliate marketing
- Third-party code (for Facebook Pixels, Chat Platforms, and more)
Pros to Podia
There are quite a few “pros” when it comes to Podia in my opinion. The platform is a breeze to use, looks great, and has lots of the functionality that a solopreneur or course creator needs.
Here are a few of the positives I’ve found with Podia:
- Clean design
- Super simple onboarding
- Free migration to Podia (up to 2,000 customers)
- Top notch customer support
- Payment plans
- Recurring subscriptions means you can use Podia for a membership site as well
- Embeddable buy buttons for your website
- Custom domains for your courses
- Built in email marketing so you can email students when they reach certain milestones
- Affordable Plans
- No transaction fees (this is similar to Thinkific and others)
Cons to Podia
- No standalone community options
- Lacks some customization options
- While their support team is great via email and chat, there is no phone support
- Doesn’t have ability to add certificates, assignments, etc.
- There is no free plan
I’ll detail these price plans below:
Mover Plan ($39 per month)
The Mover plan allows you to build your own website, use Podia to host your online courses, promote and sell your digital downloads, sell access to webinars and pre-recorded videos, and you can use Podia’s email marketing features.
But you cannot integrate with 3rd parties on this lower plan.
That is kind of a bummer, but, if you’re just getting started and you aren’t running Facebook ads yet, then its a great option for you to choose.
Once you start selling a few courses or digital products each month, those extra sales will pay for the higher plan by themselves.
Shaker Plan ($79 per month)
The Shaker plan is the upgraded Podia plan that includes all of the features and functionality they have. This includes:
- Membership site capability
- Zoom integration
- Ability to host your entire blog
- Buy buttons you can embed offsite
- Affiliate marketing
- Third-party code (such as adding a Facebook pixel, Sumo, Olark chat, and more)
In my opinion, if you’re trying to get serious about your online course business, you’re going to want the features outlined above in the Shaker Plan. But don’t go broke out of the gate just to get these features.
If you’re not already running Facebook ads, or don’t plan to in the next few weeks, then start with the Mover Plan and upgrade later.
All plans plans come with a free trial, so make sure to take advantage of that before you start paying at all. Get a course or two setup, see how great the platform is and then go from there.
Earthquaker Plan ($179 per month)
The Earthquaker plan was introduced in April of 2021. It includes support for larger teams, which means that Podia is trying to accommodate larger businesses, a great sign of long term growth!
With this plan, you get everything in the other plans, but also:
- 5 teammates included
- 50,000 monthly email subscribers
- Dedicated account manager – personalized assistance to help when you have questions about your site.
- Personalized onboarding call – to help you get setup and transition over from another course platform
- Monthly group creator call – only those on the Earthquaker plan get access to this, so it won’t be a call with thousands of customers, just the “VIPs”
- White labeled website – meaning you can remove Podia’s branding from your course site
No Transaction Fees
All plans offer zero transaction fees, so you could literally get started making money without paying a dime (except for credit card fees – those, like taxes, are inevitable). Other online course platforms bait you in with lower or free plans, but they charge you a 5% or higher transaction fee on every course you sell.
Talk about gauging your profits! Keep in mind that these are in addition to payment processing fees that are pretty much the cost of doing business online.
However, if you have the money and you sell more than one or two courses a month, you’ll cover this cost outright.
Integrations
Podia has built-in integrations but way more functionality when you combine it with Zapier.
You can connect your Podia storefront to other platforms using Zapier. If you’ve never used Zapier, it’s awesome. You can essentially have it automatically push data to another platform when you make a sale, add a new person to your email list from your sales page, have a new subscription, etc.
Here are some of the options you can integrate Podia with through Zapier:
- Mailchimp
- ActiveCampaign
- Drip
- Shopify
- Samcart
- ConvertKit
- ClickFunnels
- LeadPages
- Stripe
- Mailerlite
This isn’t everything you can use it for, just some of the more popular ones.
Coupon Codes
Coupon codes are an option for all of Podia’s pricing plans.
Creating coupon codes can be a great way to push people over the edge who are thinking about buying your course or product.
Podia offers some nice functionality when it comes to coupon codes for your products:
- Custom or Auto-Generated Coupon Codes – You can set specific coupon codes or have them automatically generate codes
- Product Specific Coupons – You can choose which products each code works on or if the coupon is good for everything in your store.
- Expiration or End Dates – you can set a code to expire on a specific date and time
- % or Value – Coupons can be setup to be a % off, or a specific dollar amount be taken off.
- Coupon Limits – You can also limit how many times a coupon is used if you want to
Certificates of Completion
Podia does not have built in certificates of completion for you to offer when your students complete a course.
But, they do offer in-depth instructions template to help you create your own.
Digital Downloads
Digital downloads are something you can sell on all Podia pricing plans.
A digital download can be an ebook, PDF, checklist, cheat sheet, etc. that you are offering to your audience. You can also choose to give these away for free to people who sign up for certain lists.
These aren’t simple digital downloads either – you can add sections within your digital downloads products. So, if you wanted to create a mini online course that includes simply PDFs, you can do that here.
Webinars, Live Streaming & Video
This is one of the cooler features when it comes to Podia. You can sell access to live webinars, pre-recorded webinars, or just video content you have in the “vault”.
The Zoom integration is only available on the Shaker plan and you’ll need to upgrade from the Mover Plan if you’re on that version.
Membership Site Capability
The membership site functionality is only available on the Shaker Plan.
You can turn your knowledge into recurring revenue with the membership model by selling a monthly or yearly subscription to your audience. You can also create a free community to help build your audience and drive leads.
This feature might not be for everyone, but it’s nice to have when you need it!
Payment Plans
Payment plans are available with all of the plans- the Mover, Shaker, and the Earthquaker plans.
You can also setup payment plans for customers to purchase using Stripe. I love this feature because when you’re selling high ticket courses, it’s a lot harder to sell them as a one-time fee than it would be if you could split that payment up into 3 or 6 month payments.
Upsells
How funny to talk about upsells, when we’re breaking down which features Podia uses to upsell you into their higher price plan 🙂
But these are available on all of Podia’s pricing plans.
Using Podia’s upsell features, you can also add other products or courses to upsell after someone has purchased one of your products. This helps a lot when it comes to increasing customer value as an online course creator.
Drip Content
You can setup one-time or automated email sequences to go out to people who have purchased your products as well.
Affiliate Program
Podia’s affiliate links and tools are only available on the higher priced Shaker Plan.
Podia lets you have the ability to let your students to refer their friends and audience to sign up for your courses and products. You can give them a % commission for sending someone your way.
Custom Domains & Subdomains
Custom domains are a natural part of all of Podia’s pricing tiers.
Custom domains allow you to make it seem like people are staying on your own website, instead of a podia.com link. It’s a little technical, but instead of your products living on hustletostartup.podia.com, you can have them live on courses.hustletostartup.com
You can change the subdomain for your Podia website to something other than the username you signed up with as well.
It provides a much more seamless experience for the user, and looks way more professional from an outsiders perspective.
Messaging & Chat
Messaging allows you to chat in real-time with customers on your website. You can decide to reach out to someone on a specific page, or message a specific student!
So you don’t get overwhelmed, you can also change the messaging feature to only be for logged in customers – otherwise it’s on for everyone or you can turn it off.
Podia’s Customer Support
Podia’s incredible customer service is available for all members on either plan, and you get access to their live Q&A calls every weekday.
Podia Pricing
Overall, Podia is a great tool that has a lot of features and functionality, and awesome customer support. The Podia platform looks great, is very reliable, and built by people who genuinely seem to care about the creator community. I’ve used them as a customer and would recommend them in a heartbeat.
