You know those countdown timers that show up on a page and get you all antsy feeling like you need to buy the product you’re looking at RIGHT NOW?

Welcome to Deadline Funnel.

That’s exactly what this software helps with, and it generates a LOT of income for its customers. Because, well, it pushes you to buy.

Do Countdown Timers Actually Work?

Why, yes, young grasshopper, they do.

Without being as boring as your 10th grade psychology teacher, I’ll try my best to explain how they work.

Urgency is one of the main psychological methods marketers can play off of to help make sales. It’s similar to scarcity (we only have 5 left!)

With urgency, you are pushed to make a decision before a specific period of time expires.

  • Urgency = time is running out
  • Scarcity = products are running out

As humans, we have an internal FOMO going on at all times. If you’re not a millennial or younger, FOMO stands for “fear of missing out.” See, you learned something today.

If you want something but there is this timer at the bottom of the page that says you only have 4 minutes and 37 seconds left to buy it, and counting….you’re going to start feeling like you need to get it now or you’ll never have the chance again.

That is what pushes you to go ahead and buy it.

There is a reason Amazon runs Lightning Deals that have both limited number of products AND a countdown timer component – “OMG these foot peel masks will never be this price again!”

Those are the marketing campaigns that end up making money for marketers and drive business growth. Okay, I get it, so what does this have to do with Deadline Funnel?

Let’s start at the beginning..

What is Deadline Funnel?

Deadline Funnel is a software you can use to add these wildly effective countdown timers to your landing pages and evergreen funnels.

deadline funnel review

There are two main applications for Deadline Funnel.

  1. Course and product launches where everyone has the same deadline to buy
  2. Evergreen sales funnels where the deadline is rolling depending on when someone entered your sales funnel

Some might argue that you are building in false scarcity by using the latter version, because you can buy it at any time. However, with the way it’s setup through Deadline Funnel, it’s actually a deadline for that person because of the cross-device technology they use.

To each his own. But the strategy works and does drive more conversions.

Deadline Funnel Integrations

Deadline Funnel integrates with a ton of 3rd party applications. You can hook up your email service provider and your sales page builder to Deadline Funnel and have them work together.

Website & Landing Page Builders:

Being able to integrate Deadline Funnel with your sales page and landing page builders is amazing. This is where you’re going to be driving most of your traffic, so it needs to work with these platforms. Here are just some of the ones you can integrate with:

Email Marketing Providers:

By integrating Deadline Funnel with your current email marketing platform, you can automatically port over your subscribers and create specific deadlines for them to use.

For example, let’s say you have a course about YouTube ads, and you entice people to join your email list by signing up for a YouTube Ad Campaign Checklist. Once they sign up, you can offer your course for 25% off for the next 72 hours.

Once they enter their email address, Deadline Funnel will pull that from your email marketing platform (let’s say GetResponse), and tag them as having 72 hours to sign up with that discount.

Once that timeframe ends, the sales page will change to the normal price, or you can redirect them to a waiting list, or some other page.

  • ConvertKit
  • Active Campaign
  • MailChimp
  • ConstantContact
  • Drip
  • GetResponse
  • AWeber
  • Ontraport
  • Infusionsoft
  • MailerLite

Course Creator Platforms:

This tool can do amazing things when used in conjunction with online courses. Some of my clients have seen triple-digit increases as soon as they turn on their Deadline Funnel campaigns.

Deadline Funnel integrates with some of the best online course platforms out there:

Ecommerce Platforms:

  • Shopify
  • WooCommerce

Webinar Platforms

Remember that evergreen webinar funnel we were talking about? Well, here is how you can integrate those two.

  • Demio
  • Easy Webinar
  • EverWebinar

Other Marketing Tools

Between chatbots, CRMs, shopping cart softwares, and lead integrations – you can pretty much find a way to do what you need to do with Deadline Funnel’s integrations.

  • ChatFuel
  • Autopilot
  • Zapier
  • ManyChat
  • HubSpot
  • Klick Tipp
  • ThriveCart
  • Maropost

How Does Deadline Funnel Work?

Deadline Funnel uses a combination of tracking methods to increase reliability of the leads. Once you setup your countdown timer or sales funnel, they are able to track people across devices and internet browsers (someone can sign up on a mobile device and they’ll see the same deadlines on their laptop). Sounds creepy, but it’s wildly effective at turning leads into sales and customers.

They use cookies as their primary method of tracking, but if no cookie is found they check via IP address. If that isn’t found either, but there is information in the website link someone clicked from your email sequence, they can then find you in the database using that information.

Deadline Funnel calls this their Deadline Fingerprint, because the combination of data points is as unique as a fingerprint.

MAGIC 🙂

Is Deadline Funnel Right For Me?

But, if you already have email subscribers, course customers, or an audience and you’re looking to improve your conversion rate, then adding Deadline Funnel to your marketing funnel could cause your business to see some growth. 🙂

However, a countdown timer (no matter how good it is) isn’t going to save your business or make you a millionaire if you have a crappy product or a boring sense of scarcity.

So this won’t be for you if:

  • Your product stinks
  • You just launched your course and have no audience or subscribers
  • It probably goes without saying but if you don’t have a product or service to offer, then this isn’t right for you either.

My Favorite Deadline Funnel Features

There are a lot of features you can take advantage of within Deadline Funnel, and you’ll soon see that it’s not just a countdown timer platform.

Countdown Timers

Countdown Timers are at the core of what Deadline Funnel has to offer. There 3 kinds of countdown timers you can use within the platform:

1. Floating Bar Timer which is shown at the top or bottom of the page

floating bar timer

2. Inline Timer which can be shown anywhere on your page

3. Email Timer which can be shown inside your emails and works just as well as

Campaign Categories

You can tag each “campaign” or funnel with categories. This allows you to run funnels for different websites or products and easily keep them separated.

Personalized Sales Copy

Depending on how each person made it to your offer, you can personalize the sales copy they see on the landing page.

Portal – NEW!

Deadline Funnel just added a new tool called “Portal.”

Portal allows you to add static boxes in the bottom corner of your website that have a countdown timer, but they also have some social proof built in along wit hit. Here’s an example:

Initially the box looks like this:

When a customer clicks to expand the box via that little gray arrow, they see this:

This tool/feature/software is really cool, and while I’ve seen separate social proof platforms, and separate countdown timer platforms, I haven’t seen a good execution of both in the same place. And Deadline Funnel’s Portal seems to solve that problem.

It would be amazing if they would let you have it just show social proof before expanding the box, but this is still an awesome tool. It looks like they might be adding it to the Portal roadmap soon.

Creative Ways You Can Use Deadline Funnel In Your Business

You can get really ninja with Deadline Funnel because the data and tracking capabilities they have are just top-notch.

Pros & Cons

Templates and Blueprints

With Deadline Funnel, you can use their templates and also integrate your own branding colors and avatars into their platform.

They also have Blueprints, which are marketing funnel templates to help you get started building out your first campaign or offer.

Some examples of Blueprints you can use are:

  • Email Sequences with Special Offer – this is what I was referring to above. You can set each of your subscribers to receive a special offer with a deadline that is unique to their relationship to you.
  • Automated Webinar – if you’ve done any automated webinars, this is a great option you can use to provide access to your offer X days after they attended the webinar and then it disappears for them
  • Page Visit – When their timeline expires and the special offer is gone, you can redirect people to another page (for example – a waitlist for the next cohort of students, or a page with the full price instead of the discount, etc.)
  • Product Launch – Like Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula, you can setup a typical launch where everyone has the same deadline to sign up for your special offer.
  • Click-Based Email Sequence – If someone clicks your emails, you can start a deadline for them as soon as they click that button or link.
  • Day of the Week – an evergreen deadline that ends on the same day of the week, each week
  • 15-Minute Optin Upsell – when someone signs up for your email campaigns, you can provide them with an introductory offer good for just 15 minutes, or another short amount of time.
  • Special Offer for First X Buyers – You can setup discounts for the first 20 people to sign up, and then once that happens the price increases.
  • Shopify Promotion – Deadline Funnel can even create unique promo codes to offer a discount for people who take specific actions within your email service provider.
  • Facebook Messenger Promotion – you can also create evergreen chatbot sequences to use with ChatFuel or ManyChat. Similar to an email sequence, this is just run through Facebook Messenger.

Questions

Are the iOS 14 changes going to impact the effectiveness of Deadline Funnel?

I have to imagine the company is working to limit the exposure of Apple’s new tracking options.

I reached out to customer support and got a response back in 18 minutes (pretty good if you ask me!)

Here’s what they had to say:

The short answer is that we are aware of these changes and Deadline Funnel is evolving to limit the impact of those changes. 🙂

We’ve been working behind the scenes for a while to improve how Deadline Funnel works under the hood, and I’m happy to report that the latest round of updates on our end will be released very soon.

I can’t share more details about this right now but it’s something we are actively working on and will send an update about once it’s ready.

Is Deadline Funnel Here to Stay?

Deadline Funnel is working on coming out with a social proof tool called Portal to compete with the likes of UseProof.

This tool isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so you can rest assured that while the setup might take a little getting used to, it’ll be worth it when you see more sales coming in.

Deadline Funnel Alternatives

Thrive Ultimatum from Thrive Themes

Thrive Ultimatum is a great option for a lot of people getting started. It’s quite a bit cheaper in terms of pricing (one-time fee), integrates directly into a WordPress website, and can collect an email address similar to the way Deadline Funnel does.

It does lack a lot of the email integration options and features that Deadline Funnel has. You also can’t embed timers into emails, and it only works with WordPress websites as you have to have the plugin installed.

It’s great, but it’s not the “professional” option.

Clickfunnels Countdown Timer

While you can set up a countdown timer in ClickFunnels, it’s nowhere near as robust as the ones you can build with Deadline Funnel.

Customer Support

The customer support you receive from Deadline Funnel’s team is awesome. You can chat with someone or communicate via email – both of which are super simple.

If you sign up for anything more than their basic plan, you get priority email and chat support, meaning the response times are even faster.

Deadline Funnel Pricing

The pricing structure for Deadline Funnel is easy to understand and is broken into 3 plans:

The Start Plan ($49/mo)

  • This basic plan offers 3 campaigns
  • 1000 leads per month
  • Email and chat support

While that sounds basic, it’s a great place to get started.

The Create Plan ($99/mo)

Once you really start getting going with Deadline Funnel, you can upgrade to this plan that includes more bells and whistles:

  • Unlimited Campaigns
  • 10,000 leads per month
  • More advanced customization
  • Weekly Reports
  • Custom colors
  • Ability to remove the Deadline Funnel branding
  • Priority Email and Chat Support

The Scale Plan ($199/mo)

The Scale Plan is more for Agency type users who have multiple clients they run campaigns for.

  • Includes everything in the Create Plan
  • Plus 100,000 leads per month
  • 5 client accounts

As with most software products these days, you do save money if you sign up for a full year. I’d recommend testing it out extensively for yourself before you go ahead and sign up for that long of a commitment.

Saving money is always nice, but you can also waste money if you don’t use it – so keep that in mind. And remember, this is a company that is run by experts are marketing and psychology, so be careful 😉

Just kidding, the team at Deadline Funnel is awesome and they take care of their customers.

Their pricing plan is a pretty great deal, considering most clients I’ve used it with make their money back for a full year in just a few weeks or months.

Does Deadline Funnel Offer a Free Trial?

Deadline Funnel does offer a Free 14-Day Trial that you can get started with here. That’s 2 weeks you have to set up an integration or two, build campaigns, add some countdowns to your website, and see what kind of results a little urgency add to your product launches.

A Review of the Review

Wow, you made it to the end of this super long Deadline Funnel Review.

I hope you can see how this tool can help you drive more sales and increase conversions for your business. The great thing about software companies like this, is you can test out the tool for a good week or two before deciding to commit. You can honestly make your money back BEFORE YOU EVEN SPEND IT with a free trial to Deadline Funnel.

But again, wait until you have a kickass product that sells without the need for a countdown timer. As with paid advertising, these tools aren’t going to fix your crappy product or business.
